The little rat bastard has been driving us nuts since day 2. She bit my little girlie pretty damn good. Blood, teeth marks, the whole nine yards. Husband couldn't get the little bitch out of the cage. She would shriek and run around like a lunatic. Today was day 9 and she developed "wet tail"....Eeeew. Boo bye Lola. She went back to Petco in her running ball covered with....well....wet tail crap.
At the pet store we saw the cutemest guinea pig and we fell in love. I think we'll be going back this week. Why doesn't anyone tell you that these are so much better BEFORE YOU BUY THE DAMN HAMSTER, CAGE, BALL, RAT BLOCKS and CHEW TOYS? Guinea pigs don't bite! They like to be held! We all held one in the store. Successfully! Even I took a shine to it. I had this "who am I???" moment when I was petting it. After 46 years of not being a pet person, I became disoriented and confused at this feeling of affection that was creeping over me. It was weirdly nice. So, we'll take a few days off from ratfest before we go back for the newer, better, shinier model. I'm just glad we found something for her to love.
We're off to Daughter's twirling recital this afternoon. Thank heavens for air conditioning!! It's 91 degrees here and rising.......Stay cool.
Oooohhh, not good. They obviously gave you a defective hamster. But, you
will like the guinea pig. They are affectionate and they whistle. Ours
even had babies (planned, don't panic) and the babies come out all furry
with their eyes open. Really cute.
In my experience, guinea pigs can become traumatized and turn to antisocial
(don't touch me) behavior. I inherited a classroom pig that hadn't been
given enough down time. It was kind of a disaster. But I've already
mentioned I'm not a cage animal person. I will say that guinea pigs are
far more adorable and lovely than hamsters ever could be.
Of course, it's the hamster's fault.
