The Nutsy Fagan Diaries

I tired now.

posted Monday, 14 April 2008

It's Monday, everyone is back to their regular routine.  Daugher's Communion was fantastic.  She looked sooooo beautiful I could barely contain myself.  It was a hectic day.  We began with her twirling competition at 9:00.  Then Husband and Son went to the barbershiop and I took Daughter to the Salon to get her hair swept back into a bun and to secure her headpiece.  Then we dashed home, dressed and left for church.  We barely made it, but we DID make it.  The Mass was lovely and we got pictures after.  Just as we got in the car a thunderstorm broke out!  Perfect.  It lasted about 5 minutes and then IT NEVER RAINED AGAIN.  Can you believe?  Have we really made strides in detecting the weather?  I'm not so sure.  I spent the last 7 days staring at 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms and ended up with a 5 minute shower.....  Believe me, I ended up happy, but I seriously could have done without the week of bumming.  We had the bouncy slide and everything went like clockwork.  Dinner was delicious and everyone mingled nicely and had fun.  I must admit though, I am exhausted.  We leave for Florida Wednesday morning at about 5:30am...  So I have today and tomorrow to pack, shop, etc.  It will all get done.  Thank God the house is in great shape.  Husband went like gangbusters yesterday!  He washed all the dishes, put them away, cleaned up the yard, put away folding chairs, etc..  And even finished the laundry.

I woke up feeling very anxious this morning.  I do not like to fly.  At all.  For the last ten years, I have been fine as long as I have Xanax.  Normally, I don't even flinch until that morning and then I take my little wonder pills.  But I guess with all the hullabaloo of the last week, my nerves are a little shot.  So I popped one this morning and I'm feeling so much better.  Man those nerves can just shoot you down.

Anyhoo, I probably won't catch up on you guys for a while.  So be good, safe and have fun while I'm gone.  I'll read up on you all when I return.

I don't like flying either and haven't the last 20 years. Just don't trust them. Driving is my love, so that's how I get around.

Once you get on your vacation you'll forget about the plane until it's time to come home. Have a great time getting refreshed to give us more of Nutsy Unplugged! ;]

I hadn't flown since 1998, until last fall. It was horrible. Next time I will be more prepared (if there is a next time...).

Seriously, you KNOW it's the safest mode of transport. HOWEVER......to me it feels like the most unnatural.... Xanax saved me. I get on without the sweaty palms, racing heartbeat and no longer have that overwhelming urge to cling like a monkey to the exit door scratching, kicking and screaming, "LET ME OFF!!!". This is the first time in like 10 years I've had to take it a few days before. I usually take one on the way to the airport, two more when I get on and the I have two bloody mary's.....yeah, I know that's a lot, but I have a high tolerance from years of practice....Sometimes now I even fall asleep. But you would never know that I'm on anything if you didn't know me. Prior to discovering Xanax, I didn't fly for 11 years. I actually lost $350 once because I couldn't get on the plane. Thank God those days are over.

I too LOVE driving and would actually prefer to drive. We' save thousands in airfare and car rentals, but you do lose a lot of time. Oh well. Thanks for your visits!!!

I didn't mind flying until I started to travel with my two little boys and now its just a major chore. And I still don't mind flying, its the airports and security and baggage check in and everything that I seriously hate.

Give me flight over a bus, at least, any day. I get motion sickness in buses, but for whatever reason I'm fine on planes. A little queasy at takeoff and landing, but fine. My mother threw up and was miserable the one and only time she ever rode on a plane, so she's been afraid to fly ever since.

Have a great trip!

Hope your having a great time! I've only flown once and I was so thrilled that I loved it. I don't think that I would now though. I don'[t have to worry because I won't ever have the opportunity for traveling that great a distance again.
