The Nutsy Fagan Diaries

Happy birthday beautiful boy.

posted Sunday, 9 March 2008

My son is 7 today.  The time flies by so quickly it is hard to believe.  I vividly remember the day after he was born, as I was laying in the hospital bed and they brought him to me.  I fed him and we took a long nap together, both of us were so at peace.  It was an exquisite, perfectly natural, joy filled moment.

So here we are 7 years later.  He's becoming quite the little man.  We had a party yesterday with all his little buddies.  Slot car racing!  It was great.  They had a giant 6 car track with stools all around it.  They had a computer in the middle with all the kids names on it and their times.  Each child got to race each car.  There were arcade games to play while they weren't racing.  Son had a ball.  We had some family for dinner last night......those who were brave enough to come....  Daughter got sick on Thursday.  She's been coughing and has had a 102 fever since Friday morning...We're going to the Doc tomorrow morning as soon as we drop Son off at school.  She's pretty bummed because she missed his party yesterday and this morning she missed her very first twirling competition.  She's really bored by now even though she clearly still feels like shit.  I got her a bunch of DVD's to watch, but she just wants to be done with this.  I do too!

I took son to my mom's house this morning so she could give him his gift.  We then went to Game Stop to exchange a game and I bought myself a little present!  Cooking Mama.  I'm excited to try this out.  Besides, it's a game Daughter will definately like.  Husband is taking Son to his mom's in a little while to get his birthday gift.  We're whipping out Cooking Mama as soon as the car leaves the driveway!!

Tonight (much to my ultimate happiness) Son has requested Sushi for his birthday dinner.  HURRAY!!!  A)  I don't have to cook.  B) I get one of my very favorite foods for dinner.  Life is good.  Life will be better as soon as my girlie gets better!  Be good out there and enjoy the day.

Congrats!

My youngest is now eight and continues to surprise us, inasmuch as his appearance was a complete surprise. A few days ago, we were sitting around the table at dinner while the Official Daughter, age 16, was discussing the upcoming track and field season and the Official Elder Son, age 12, was pontificating about the school play. In the midst of this, the youngest announces, and I quote:

"I know how to back the car out of the garage."

Talk about bringing conversation to a screeching halt.

My advice: Keep and eye on that boy.

:)

Cheers.

(BTW, thanks for stopping by. I think sailing is tremendously cool. I'd love to take a course and cruise around the Virgin Islands or something. <Sigh>.)

Sailing IS really cool. We love it. Funny you mention BVI - We have two BIG trips planned for sometime over the next 3-4 years. The first is to rent a catamaran with another family and sail around the Virgin Islands. The second is to go out west for a 3 stop trip: Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon and then rent a houseboat on Lake Powell for 3-4 days. Can't wait to do both. It's a matter of planning and socking the dollars away.

Happy Birthday to your Son. Hope your daughter recovers soon. Had my grandson for the weekend. Hadn't seen him for a while, so it was great getting together. A 7 year old asking for Sushi as a birthday dinner is quite adult. ;]

We are entering the birthday season as well with the little guy's 2nd birthday in May and then the big boy's 4th in July. Time does fly and I love the idea of a slot racing party, unusual and sounds like an excellent time. I'm not sure what we'll be doing this year, maybe a bounce house with the slide and pool at the bottom. And oh yeah, we loves some sushi! There are two (and probably more) really good sushi places near our house!

Have fun with them babies. It just keeps getting better and better. I know that's hard to believe, but it's true. All ages are great. Husband slips a blow up pool at the bottom of our slide and the kids just go for hours.
